I found the archive in a folder titled TEMP_BACKUP_1998 on a drive I bought at a garage sale. The filename was a sentence, a warning, and a character name all at once: Chihiro-Himukai-Always-Walks-Away.rar .

When I extracted it, there was no executable. Only a single, massive text file and a folder of low-resolution sprites. The sprites were of a young girl in a school uniform, but in every single frame, she was turned away from the camera.
