Suddenly, Marko heard a loud click from the hallway. He jumped. His real-world thermostat had just flipped to 30°C (86°F) on its own. "Coincidence," he muttered, though his heart was hammering.
The installation was surprisingly fast. When he booted the game, everything looked normal. He created a Sim that looked suspiciously like himself—Marko—and moved him into a cozy house in Willow Creek. Since it was the Seasons pack, he immediately set the calendar to a brutal, snowy winter. But as the digital snow began to fall, a strange chill crept into Marko’s actual room. He shivered, reaching for a sweater. On screen, his Sim walked to the thermostat and turned the heat up. Suddenly, Marko heard a loud click from the hallway
Marko stared at the screen. His Sim was now standing in the middle of the living room, looking directly at the "camera"—directly at Marko . The Sim didn't have the usual thought bubble. Instead, a small text box appeared in the corner of the screen, written in plain Bosnian: "Coincidence," he muttered, though his heart was hammering
Panic surged. Marko lunged for the power button, but the PC wouldn't shut down. The Sim reached the door on screen and grabbed the handle. Clack. Marko’s real front door handle turned.
